Perfect rice recipe | Simple Basmati rice | Rice recipe with whole spices

Ready in 20 minutes
Serves 2-3 people

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup soaked Basmati rice
  • 3-4 Whole black pepper
  • 1-2 Cardamom
  • 3-4 Cloves
  • ½ Nutmeg
  • ½ Cinnamon stick
  • 1-2 Bay Leaves
  • 3 cups water 

Preparation:

  1. Add Ghee to a heated pan
  2. Add Cloves, Cardamom, Whole black peppers, Nutmeg, Bay leaves, Cinnamon stick
  3. Give it a quick and light stir
  4. Add soaked rice
  5. Add water
  6. Give it a quick and light stir once again
  7. Let it boil and cook for around 12-15 mins
  8. Before your turn OFF the flame, give it a quick and light stir one last time
  9. After 10-15 mins once the rice is boiled, turn the flame OFF
  10. Take a colander and remove the excess water
  11. Let it sit for around 5 mins and then serve

Tips:

1. If you are gonna steam the rice then use 1:2 ratio i.e. for 1 cup water use 2 cups of water and cover it with lid and cook for around 12-15 mins once the rice is cooked let it sit with lid cover for
around 5 mins.
2. If you are making biryani than boil the rice for around 10 mins until par-boiled.
